Nachgefragt: Interview mit The Loosies/ Riot Grrrl aus Texas, USA
![]() The Loosies |
1. Who is in the band and what are you doing in your normal lifes?
I'm Elle, I sing and play guitar for the Loosies. We have Roxxxi Rae on bass and Misti on drums. In my everyday life I work as a News Producer at a local CBS TV station.
2. I can‘t believe that you are such a short time together. How did the band started, in what bands did you played before and how have you found you?
Yeah, we have only been together since like the end of May. I met Misti at a Girl in a Coma concert. I was the bassist in Roxxxi Rae's husband's band Responsible Johnny like a year ago. After unsuccessfully finding a band we all liked, we joined forces and started our own thing. It's been great ever since.
3. What is the concept behind the band?
"Making Simple Sound Good."
4. How do you make a new song?
We throw song titles out and just run with them! Between Roxxxi and I, we can write up to six songs a day that way. Its fun.
5. What is the best lyric you ever wrote and why?
Tough Qestion. All my songs are different and the best for different reasons, ha ha. Probably my favorite though is "You fuck good (but drinking beer is better).
6. You say on your website you never wanna be signed - why?
We arent in it to be rockstars. We all have our own lives and love them. We don't need a record deal to be fullfilled as musicians.
7. What can you tell us about Riot Grrrl in Dallas/ Texas?
It was pretty much non existant until us.
8. You mention Bikini Kill, X-Ray Spex or L7 as influences... how important are these old bands for a young band like you? What do you like on these?
Very important, if it wasn‘t for grrrls like Kathleen Hannah and Donita Sparks, I'd have to look to dudes for inspiration.
9. There seem to be a lot of fans at your gigs and at some radiostations. Who is listening to you and what does the audience like on you?
I think they like us cause we are fun and we love everyone! We really make an effort to talk to people who come out to our shows and really get to know them. Staying connected is very important to us. If it wasn‘t for fans coming out, it would really suck lol
10. What future do you see for you and your band?
More EPs, more free merch to give out and many many MANY more shows. We played House of Blues a few weeks ago, so our next "gig to get" is Trees in Dallas. Lots of our fav bands have played there and its part of rock n roll history, so it would be an honour to get to play there.
