Grau als Summe aller Farben.

Mit dem Re-Release der 2010 erschienenen E.P. „[dis-play]“ beim Gelsenkirchener Label BLACK I.P. STUDIO präsentiert sich die Electro-Rock Band um Axel Kubitza und Thomas W. im neuen, digital re-masterten Gewand. Ursprünglich als Duo gestartet, beschlossen die beiden Gründungsmitglieder vor zwei Jahren, dem Kind endlich einen Namen zu geben, um das erarbeitete Songmaterial auf Live-Tauglichkeit hin zu testen. Von Anfang an wollte man sich den Einflüssen verschiedenster Musikrichtungen nicht entziehen, und so war der Name The Neon Grey schnell gefunden: als augenzwinkerndes Oxymoron und Verweis auf die monochrome Grundstimmung der Songs. Mit der Erstveröffentlichung des Tracks „stressed out“ in 2010 auf der Sampler-Reihe „Made in Essen“ und der Orkus-Compilation 64 standen dann auch in logischer Konsequenz die ersten Live-Auftritte an, für die letztendlich Mark Stirkat am Schlagzeug und Mic Thieme am Bass gewonnen werden konnten. Präsentiert sich der Sound auf CD als eine ausgefeilte Electro-Rock Produktion, darf es auf der Bühne um einiges rauer zugehen, wovon sich das Publikum bereits 2010 und 2011 bei zahlreichen Auftritten, unter anderem als Support für Clan of Xymox, überzeugen durfte. Aus dem einstigen 2-Mann Projekt ist eine ausgewachsene Live-Band geworden, von der man in Zukunft sicher noch einige neue Sounds und Farbspektren erwarten kann! Für den Herbst 2012 ist die Veröffentlichung des ersten Longplayers geplant.

Grey as sum of all colours

By re-releasing their E.P. “dis-play” at the german label Black I.P. Studio, the Electro-Rock band around Axel Kubitza and Thomas W. presents itself in a new light, digitally remastered. Started off as a duo, the two founding members finally decided two years ago to give their project a name, to test their material’s potential as a live act. From the beginning, inspiration by different music styles was a voluntary choice, and so the name “The Neon Grey” was found soon: as a humorous oxymoron and concerning to the monochrome undertone of the songs. After the first release of the song “stressed out” in 2010 on the compilation series “Made in Essen” and the compilation No. 64 of the “Orkus” music magazine the first live gigs were the logical consequence. In order to revalue the live shows Mark Stirkat (drums) and Mic Thieme (bass) were recruited to join the band. Presented on CD as a sophisticated electro-rock production, it comes across on stage a lot rougher, which would excite audiences in 2010 and 2011 during numerous performances, including a great show as support for The Clan of Xymox. The former 2-man-project has become a fully-grown live band, of which a lot of more new sounds and colour spectra are to be expected. The release of the first longplayer is planned for autumn 2012.

"Upbeat and bordering to industrial. The Neon Grey sounds influenced by bands like Rammstein and Rosetta Stone. Some of the sounds used on this production gives a slightly annoying impression as they reduces the feeling of harmony but on the other hand they add to the "personality" and character of the music so it's not all bad. The Neon Grey would easily fit in on the dancefloor of an EBM-club or similar. All in all, this is an interestin production wich stands on it's own legs. Will probably bi liked by many but for various reasons. Will probably be hated by few. Over all: Good stuff!"
